From the National Curriculum:
"A high-quality languages education should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. The teaching should enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing."
At St. George’s, we aim to:
The children are introduced to French as they enter Year 3 and they will continue with weekly lessons throughout the time they are in Key Stage 2. Our new scheme of work (Primary Languages Network) provides pupils with video and audio examples of speaking in French and they are able to engage in interactive games to help them embed their grasp of vocabulary. Our specialist French teacher also introduces our younger children to language-learning where possible.

We enjoy an annual French Day, where we embrace the culture of France and the French-speaking world for the whole school to enjoy and learn from.
