St George's teaching staff have been using 'Talk for Writing' - The Talk for Writing approach enables children to read and write independently for a variety of audiences and purposes within different subjects. A key feature is that children internalise the language structures needed to write through 'talking the text'.

Spelling Scheme
Once children have mastered phonics, children are taught spellings within their class, in most cases working on the words expected for their age range, using the Sounds Write style of teaching.
Children need to learn the statutory word bank words appropriate to their age-range and key stage. Please click here to link to the National Curriculum Spelling Appendix, including Word Lists for Years 3 and 4 and Years 5 and 6.
