The safety and wellbeing of our children is something that we take very seriously at St George’s Primary School and Pre-School. We are proactive in this area and work with other agencies, such as the social care and safeguarding teams, the police and health representatives through multi-agency partnership often led by the school. The approach we use is illustrated below, and is used by all partner agencies across Dorset.

The purpose of taking this co-ordinated approach is to help identify a child’s degree of need, ensure support is offered by the right agencies, at the right time and prevent their needs escalating to a higher level. It will help identify when referrals to specialist Children’s Social Care services are required.
We ensure that our school site and practices are secure and safe and all our staff are trained to be alert to ensure that we keep our children safe whilst educating them.
We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.
We always:
We are an Operation Encompass School, which means that our Safeguarding Leads (also known as 'Key Adults') are trained to receive notifications from the police about domestic abuse incidents so we can support our children and families.
